Arguably the most common issue with people with desk jobs, neck pain has become more and more prevalent in the past couple of decades. Neck pain can be one of the most debilitating and annoying types of pain. Simple activities such as looking up and down can cause significant pain, especially when the onset of pain first starts. Over time, if untreated, the pain can become more stiff, sore and achy. Stiffness and restricted movements will most likely be present with this condition. The neck is incredibly versatile in its mobility, so the susceptibility to injuries is higher than other areas of the human body. There are a variety of conditions which might cause neck pain, from: whiplash, muscle strains, joint sprains, disc bulges and nerve compression. Neck pain is one of the main contributors to disability in Western countries and can lead to other symptoms.

What is the most common cause of Neck Pain?
Once any major issues are ruled out due to examinations and imaging, the most common cause of neck pain is due to overuse. With overuse, the joints in the spine do not move as ideally and as freely as they should. This will cause stiffness, followed by pain in the neck initially. Over time, pain patterns can travel down the arms and the mid back, contribute to spinal degeneration, disc bulges, and headaches.
Poor posture, office ergonomics and screen use are the most common causes of neck pain. Poor alignment places unnecessary pressure on the joints of the neck (Cervical Spine).
How can Chiropractic help Neck Pain?
At Charge into Health Family Chiropractic, I not only look at the symptoms associated with pain, but the cause of it. Neck Pain is usually not limited to one area, and can affect other areas of your entire body, including the arms and can cause headaches. There are a variety of factors which might contribute to your Neck Pain, so it is important to provide an accurate diagnosis.
During this examination process, we will perform a variety of exams which include, but are not limited to: orthopedic, neurological, and muscle tests to find the cause of the problem. Once we have all of this information, you will be adjusted the same day. If we cannot adjust you, then you will be referred for X-Rays to see what is going on with the joints of your Neck.
From here, we will create a personalized plan to aid in your natural recovery without the need for drugs or surgery. The treatment will include spinal adjustments, muscle work, at home exercises, neck support, ergonomic and lifestyle recommendations.
We will also be looking at any other factors which might have led to the injury and will help you make the modifications necessary to quicken your recovery and prevent further injury!
